OL goes clubbing

Went ladies night at MOS with WS, LZ, Sal, MY, IL and Sand (we are the OL gang!!) yesterday and we had a great time grooving away. But I must admit that the music initially sucks. The R&B and retro they were playing was sooooooo S…..L……O…….W. But as the clock slowly strikes 12, the music picked up gradually and all the power music began. I danced so much that my whole body ached when I woke up this morning. Before MOS, we went fly bar to get the free bottle of vodka (which taste very yucky. But its free, so no one’s complaining). All in all, we only spent $$ on the mixers at fly bar and on the cab fare back. I love being a lady!!

One thing, I noticed A lot of ladies wearing sneakers at MOS yesterday. In the past when I used to cheong MU and MW (wah, sounds so ah lian and old), nobody wear sneakers to club one lor. Everybody wear heels one lor. I am no longer keeping up with the times. I feel so old. 😦 I shall wear my adizero to cheong the next time. We have decided to go club together once a while. I propose to go after the spiderman movie.

Went to this vegetarian restaurant called Wah Loke Yuen at tanjong pagar for dinner yesterday with Des. The food there is good!! 2 thumbs up!! Didn’t take any pics cos I was pai say lah. But that restaurant is worth a try. The char siew there is simply FANTASTIC!! Better than the real meat char siew lor, I tell you). In fact the char siew was sooooo nice that I was telling des that it will be great if they have char siew bao. So when the waiter came to clear our plates, I jokingly told him: your char siew is fantastic!! I love it!! Do you have char siew bao?? If have I want to pack some back home. And to my surprise, they do have char siew bao. And they also have walnut lotus paste pastry, walnut biscuit and wife biscuit which is very very nice. So in the end, I went MOS with 6 char siew baos, 2 boxes of pastries and biscuits in my bag. Heng my bag was big enough to accommodate the boxes of baos and biscuits. Else imagine I have to take big and small bags of baos to club!!

Few days ago, I mass emailed my friends a Borders online voucher. Among one of them was someone whom I have not been in contact with for quite some time. And there was sort of some bad feelings between us. When I was adding recipients for the mail, I hesitated before deciding add him in the list as I know he do buy books sometimes and the voucher would be useful. Today I received an email from him, saying he is in LA now.

What is so coincident is that just few days ago, I was with Yanni jie and she asked me what I was angry with. She told me that I must first forgive myself, and love myself then I can forgive others. And when I have really forgiven them, the other party will feel it and things will be different. And one of the exercises she gave me is to forgive 5 people or things everyday. And one or 2 days before I send that borders email out, this person was in my forgive list.

And he replied. I think prior to that borders email I do sometimes mass email him as well. All I can say that… Its not a coincident.

Celebrate SUCCESS!!

My mentor, Rich said that most asians have this problem. We don’t celebrate success. We work very hard, and when we achieve our goal, we treat it as 理所当然, and we set a next goal and we cheong again. We don’t celebrate our success, no matter big or small. And that is why over time, we tend to feel tired, burned out and drained out. Cause we just keep fighting, but they forget to celebrate.

Everyone needs encouragement and support to propel to greater heights. Just like ace, when he done something he is proud of, like when he first started learning how to walk, after every baby step he took, he will turn to us and clap his hand, initiating us to clap our hands and praise him for being such a clever baby. And with our encouragement, he will take the next baby step forward. If even babies like ace knows how to celebrate (by celebration here I don’t mean it must be a grand party whereby one have to pop the champaign) each and every of his little achievements, what about adults like us? Have we forgotten how to do so?

celebrate success with RED!!

2 weeks ago, I celebrated my own small success. 🙂 though the event wasn’t as grand as the usual RR, and its just a small achievement on my part, but im happy because all my loved ones, the people who matters most are with there to share the joy with me. And they are all that matters. 🙂

the ones who matters most… 🙂

my comrades…

And after the event, where else do we go for celebration?? SUCCESS VEGETARIAN, with daddy, mummy, ah mah, sis, max, ace and net, of course!! There’s a reason why we love this eatarie sooooo much, other than the very yummy fried golden mushrooms that they served.

daddy & mummy… first time i see them take photo so intimate… heh…

Have yet to get myself the reward that I have promised myself, a pretty wallet. Have already set my eyes on one. When I got the time, I shall go make it my poccession. 🙂 now on the way to achieve my next goal. And then I can get a laptop for myself, then a MAN (yes, if I hit that, its about time I get a man officially… Haha)!! Yay!!

And that is one BIG motivation. So… Onward we go!!!

congrats joven, liming and me!!

And remember to always celebrate your achievements, no matter big or small, ok?? If you need someone to celebrate with you, just let me know!! I’ll be more than happy to do so!!(provided there’s good food and drinks!!)

the usual rantings

Many a times I asked myself: if I were to have a special power, or if I can become a mutant like X-man, what powers will I want to possess??

To be able to read people’s mind (like jean grey)?
To be able to control the weather (like storm)?
To be able to become invisible (invisible man)?
To be able to become very strong ( like incredible hulk)?
To be able to fly (like superman)?
To be able to change into the image of another person (like mystique the blue lady… Did I get the name right)?

If there is one and only one special power that you will choose, what will you choose??

For me, I will choose to have the ability to teleport, so that I dun need to waste time going from one place to another. Imagine, I can wake up at 8.30, and at 8.59, teleport to my office. Sibeh shiok!! And I can say good bye to traffic jams, no need to squeeze with rude singaporeans in the trains, no need to smell other people’s body odor or silent fart. Most importantly, I wont be late ever!! Imagine, getting from point A to point B is a breeze, and I literally meant a breeze!! How great is that?? And I can save $$ to get a lexus 430 and use that money to buy a lot a lot of other stuff. Cool!!

What about you?? What special powers will you want to have if you have a choice??

They always say guys bond thru drinking, Woman bond thru SHOPPING (especially during a sale). How true is that!!

Seriously, nothing builds stronger bonds when you are out there, together searching for the best offers. I usually seldom lunch with my colleagues as Im a vegetarian and there are limited places that I can go for lunch. So unless they are going there for lunch, otherwise I wouldn’t join them. And so im not really on close terms with some of the newer colleagues that are in other departments that I seldom need to liases with. And how I started to know them better was through lunch time shopping. Haha. Next week we are going chill out during one of the ladies night. Haha.

So wanna have better relationship with your girlie frens? Go shopping!!

Just went to winsland house with my colleagues for the loreal sale. But the Q was so damn long we gave up waiting. We took a peak inside the sale room and it looked as if the things inside are free, or are on 99.99% off. Anyway, when there is a sale with more than 30% storewide and admission is free, the bulk of singaopreans will scatter down to join in the crowd. A very good example is the IT fair. During the sat of last IT fair that was held in suntec, it took me and S 20-30 mins to walk from citihall mrt station to suntec tower 2. Can you imagine how many gazillions of people there was?? Sometimes I don’t understand why the IT fair attract so many people. No doubt they have very good offers at the fair, but most of the people went there without getting anything or without the intent to get anything even. And it makes me wonder why they wanna go to the fair and get squeeze with the rest of singaoore,, unless…

They like to squeeze against people’s back or chest
They think by being going to where majority of the people are at, they will be labelled as COOL
They are really interested in computer peripherals
They wanna see chio bus (notice nowadays the uniforms of the promoters for computer fairs also wear till very sexy le. In the past, only promoters for car shows don sexy uniform (short skirt, high boots and all). But nowadays the promoters at IT fair are also donning short skirts and all.)

happy, happyness, happiness

After watching the pursuit of happyness, I was wondering why they spelled happyness with a Y instead of an I. there must be a meaning behind it. Cant be a typo right?? So what do you think? Why is happYness purposely spelled wrongly?? Share your thoughts with me. There is no right or wrong answer. Different people will have different interpretations. 🙂

For myself, I think its because everybody, every human being come to earth only for one reason. To be happy. For every decision we make, we always choose the one that we (or our unconscious mind thinks) think will make us happy. And hence, its happy-ness. What is the one thing that is most important to you in your life? Determine that then do everything to achieve that. A lot of us tend to think too complicated. We think in order to achieve happiness we must achieve a lot of things in life or have to do this, do that and we go round and round. So happyness is simple. HAPPY-ness. What is the thing that matters to u most and makes you happy? And just do everything that will let you achieve it. That’s the road to happy-ness.

While I am typing this, another thought came to my mind. The pursuit of happYness. In order to pursue happyness and get what you want in the end, the most important factor is your Y. which again boils down to your intent, like I written in the last post. 🙂

I asked sis the same question and she told me that it is because happyness is about You, and not I. Its about helping people. In the movie, no matter how busy Chris was, he never reject when people ask him for help. Even when he only had 5 bucks left in his wallet, he still borrowed it to someone who needs it.

Quote from dr george in his success FM CD series, 只要你帮够多人梦想成真,你就会心想事成. if you help enough people fulfill their dreams, you will get anything you want. So today if you have not get whatever you want, then you have not helped enough people.

So… Whats your perception?? Why is it HAPPYNESS and not HAPPINESS?? 🙂

happyness

Finally went to watch the pursuit of happyness. It was a brilliant show. A MUST watch. I cried when chris gardner was chosen for the job. I seldom cry when watching shows but that part touched me. I can really feel his joy even when he was trying hard to suppress his tears. I was so happy for him, his hardwork and preseverance finally paid off.

Favourite quote of the movie:

Don’t let anybody steal your dreams. They tell you you can’t because they themselves can’t achieve it.

After the show, net and I were discussing what we saw or learned from the show. To him, is the power of preserverance, never give up.

To me, I learned:

Whatever the mind can think of and believe, it will eventually become the truth.

The power of intent. How strong is your power of intent to succeed? What is your compelling reason to succeed? To Chris, it was his son and that’s why though he worked lesser hours than his peers but he still emerged top. And it made me think, how strong is my power of intent? what is my compelling reason? what is my motivating factor? Is it strong enough, big enough?

We (myself included) all say we want happyness/success/wealth/love. But how much do we really want it? Do we all want it as badly as Chris in the movie? If the road to happyness/success/wealth/love means we have to go through a rough path like chris, how many of us will give up before we can see light? This reminds me of what Dr George has said in his Success FM CD. Having dreams are like giving birth to a child. When a mother is in labour, she will never give up halfway and say she dun wanna give birth anymore. She will endure the pain and continue pushing till the baby is born. And the more pain she feels, the more ecasty she will be cos she knows that it means that her baby is going to be born soon.

But a lot of us (me included), when we are giving birth to our dreams, we just give up half way because the labour pain is too much for us to bear. And hence, our dreams are never born, never materialized. A lot of times, we don’t even dare to concieve our dreams because the people who gave up halfway told us how painful it is going to be and all and so so many of us don’t even dare to dream, for the fear of pain.

I thought about what is it that I really want to pursue now. What is the one dream that by thinking of it, will make my heart pulse faster, by thinking of it will put a smile to my face and I cant wait for that day to come and as days pass, my desire for it to become a reality becomes stronger. And I have one. And this dream/goal of mine, I know I will not be striving for it alone. 🙂

I hereby declare that I commit to pursuit my own happyness and give birth to all my dreams. 🙂 please go pursuit your own happyness and have the courage to give birth to your dreams as well.
